A Message from Bright Realty

While it may not be part of the Residential Association, we would like to update you on an exciting renovation within the community. You may have noticed the reflection pond that displays our renowned Christmas tree every year is under construction at the Castle Hills Village Shops. We are happy to relay that we have begun to prepare for the holidays with a temporary resolution that will allow us to keep our tradition of this display, and we will continue with renovations after the New Year. Stay tuned for more information by following Castle Hills on Facebook.

Did you Know?!

Time to set the clocks back to Standard Daylight Time - November 7th 2021

Not every state follows daylight saving time, however. Hawaii and most of Arizona opt out. Indiana did not observe DST until 2006. Because the state had two time zones, some of its counties changed their clocks in the fall and in the spring and some didn't. Because time zones were difficult to keep track of, a bill was passed in 2005 to unify the practice throughout the state. But the law was controversial, and it made the governor at the time, Mitch Daniels, unpopular.

Curious about the Olivia Clark Homes - building "Paired Homes" on Lady of the Lake in front of The Lakes? Back in July, they had 3 remaining properties and if interested, prospects and/or their agent put their name on a waiting list, already at 35-40 on the list. This week, we were contacted about an available inventory home for one of our clients! Yeah! Just for those that are curious, 623 Verrine, The Shiloh Plan, anticipated to be completed around the first of the year for $540,000!

Pumpkin Bread Ring With Maple Cream Cheese Filling

Recipe By: Merle O'Neal - Tasty Team

PUMPKIN BREAD

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 16 oz unsweetened pumpkin puree
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • nonstick cooking spray, for greasing

MAPLE CREAM CHEESE FILLING

  • 8 oz vegan cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350˚F (180˚C).

  • Make the maple cream cheese filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, lemon juice, vanilla, and maple syrup. Stir until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  • Make the pumpkin cake: Sift the flour into a large bowl and add the brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to combine.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, water, and vanilla. Whisk well.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, folding with a rubber spatula just until combined. Do not overmix the batter.
  • Generously grease a bundt pan with nonstick spray.
  • Add 3 cups (675 G) of pumpkin batter to the pan and spread evenly. Then, scoop the cream cheese filling over the batter, making a ring. Top with the remaining batter and spread to cover the filling.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes before inverting to remove from the pan.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service

There is still time to set out cool-season bedding plants, such as pansies, violas, snapdragons, dianthus, and flowering kale.  When looking for transplants to purchase, make sure to select short, stocky plants with good green color.
